Carla Oliva
LMT 21104, CPT
Carla's journey into understanding human movement began in 1995 while attaining her Bachelor degree in Physical Education in São Paulo, Brazil.
There, she immersed herself in studying posture and body alignment with a focus on movement. This passion later led to attaining her Pilates certification. Carla has a profound interest in exploring movement and techniques that allow her clients to experience a better understanding of how they move and how to improve through exercise.
Carla received her Pilates certification in 2011 thru BASI® and completed her Mentorship program in 2013. While living in Pennsylvania she worked at ONE Physical Therapy and Wellness in Bryn Mawr. As a Pilates instructor at OPTW, she had the opportunity to work with rehab and post rehab patients in a one-on-one setting to improve their fitness and wellness goals. Carla's own history of orthopedic injuries moved her to pursue a more therapeutic approach to teaching movement.
After leaving Pennsylvania, Carla continued to work both in a clinical setting as well as from her own home-studio in Beaverton, OR. In 2014, Carla graduated from Oregon School of Massage and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Oregon. This additional credential affords her the opportunity to use manual techniques to help clients improve their well-being and body awareness even further. She is also certified in Neurokinetic therapy and Functional Movement System, which allows her to implement the most recent research of movement functionality into her Pilates and massage therapy work. She has participated in two human cadaver dissection with Gil Hedley.
In June of 2016, Carla closed her Pilates and Massage Therapy business to become a full-time traveler. She now teaches Pilates at her online studio (through live streaming), RV Resorts, campgrounds and outdoor settings such as public parks. Carla also works as a substitute Pilates teacher all over the United States.
With over 20 years of experience, Carla educates and encourages clients on how to achieve their fitness goals while promoting a safe practice of physical activities. Her ongoing thirst for knowledge and dedication to receiving quality education offers her clients a unique, wide-ranging approach to fitness and well-being through Pilates and massage.
